About UK Pump Prices | Where Our Fuel Prices Come From

The short version

Every price on this site comes from the UK Government’s Fuel Finder scheme, run by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. Forecourts are required to report their pump prices, and to report a change within 30 minutes of making it. We do not set prices, estimate them, or adjust them. We show what was reported, and when.

We show prices in pounds per gallon as well as pence per litre, because most people still think about fuel in gallons and miles, and almost nobody publishes it that way.

How up to date is it?

Every set of prices on this site carries the time it was collected, on the page, where you can see it. If you cannot tell how old a number is, the number is not much use.

⚠ A price is what a forecourt reported, not a promise of what you will pay. Prices change, reports can be late, and a forecourt can put its price up between the report and your arrival. Always check the price on the pump.

⭐ Where the scheme has not told us something, we say nothing rather than guessing. If a forecourt has no car wash listed, that means it was not reported — not that there isn’t one. We would rather leave a gap than fill it with something that might be wrong.

Please report it. The scheme has its own route for this, it goes straight to the people who can correct it at source, and it fixes the price everywhere — not just here.

Charity — an idea we are working on

This site is free and there is no sign-up. If it saves you money and you are happy to pass a little of it on, we would like to point you at a charity rather than ask you for anything. We are looking at charities that help people hurt in road traffic accidents — the air ambulance services and others like them.
